About MIM Online Learning

Welcome!

CNET Online Courses are FREE, online courses on a variety of technology and consumer electronic topics for registered CNET members. Each class discussion is led by our team of subject matter experts, the CNET Class Leaders.

While the courses are non-accredited, the learning community is real. Our CNET Class Leaders log into the classroom during a two week period and discuss the topic with the enrolled students. The class is not `real-time' _ you don't need to log in at any particular hour. Instead, questions and comments are posted on a classroom comment blog where everyone can read and respond at a time that's convenient to them.

Once you enroll in a course, you'll be able to read full lessons and participate in the two-week class session with the CNET Class Leader and your fellow students.

Share Your Expertise

You're not alone when you participate in a CNET Online Courses course. The actual classroom experience is a blend of questions and comments from students in the class and the CNET Class leaders who moderate the discussion. While our class leaders are experts at moderating the discussion, we expect that some of our CNET members are the real experts on certain topics and we invite you to share your expertise. While our CNET online course lessons are developed by the CNET editorial team, the classroom blog is where students can participate with their own opinions.

Assignments

After you enroll in a course and the class starts, you will receive emails (or RSS) with added course assignments over a two-week period. Each assignments is usually a question that can be answered by posting a comment in the classroom area of each course. The assignments are designed to encourage students to discuss the topic in depth with other students and the CNET Class Leaders online.

NOTE: You can always find assignments posted at the bottom of the course home page (listed under "Classroom")

Course Sponsors

In order to keep these online courses free to our CNET members, an advertiser sponsors the course for a period of time. You will know who the course sponsor for each course by their logo on each page. You may also notice that some sponsors have contributed their own custom lesson to the course. While a CNET online course lesson is developed exclusively by CNET's editorial staff, you may see a 'sponsor custom lesson' that's posted in some courses. This is content that was written and developed by the course sponsor and does not represent the views and opinions of CNET's editorial staff. However, we encourage you to explore the course sponsor's unique point of view on the course content with their custom lesson content.
